Richard Matheson, (New Jersey, 1926) es escritor y guionista cinematográfico. Autor de las novelas Soy Leyenda, El Hombre Menguante y Hell House entre otras. Su nombre figura en los créditos de algunos de los mejores episodios de The The Twilight Zone.

Ha colaborado en numerosas ocasiones con Roger Corman y Dan Curtis. Para el primero escribió los guiones de los títulos más logrados de la serie dedicada a Poe.

En los últimos años ha sido adaptado por David Koepp en Stir of Echoes y Richard Kelly en The Box.

Entre sus fans están Steven Spielberg, que filmó un guión suyo en DUEL/ El diablo sobre ruedas, y Stephen King, que suele citarlo como una gran influencia en su obra.
